About Mak

I'm Makenzie, but you can call me Mak. I am a certified sleep consultant and newborn care specialist located in Pittsburgh, PA.  When I'm not spending time with my husband and two daughters you can find me helping families get the sleep they need or providing care in the neonatal unit where I work. I get it. Raising a family, working full time, and owning a business is tough stuff. Thankfully, my family knows sleep. With my help, your family can know sleep too.

Mak's Story

There she is. My little sleep champ. The magic baby. She always slept through the night, took great naps, and was happy as could be. I remember thinking "Okay, this parenting stuff isn't too shabby. I mean after all it's just one baby right?" Well, yes but only for another 8 months. Enter little sister. She's not so bad of a sleeper either, how did I get so lucky?

Fast forward 3 months ... I needed a crib for the baby so I transitioned my 20 month out of her crib - yeah don't do that. Oh, and we live in a less than large house that also serves as an office for my husband (and now me). Can you see where this is going? I now have a 3 month old and a 20 month old who is sleeping in a big girl bed, sharing a room. Before I knew it I had big sister crawling in little sister's crib - can you say unsafe? And my anxiety that little sister would wake up big sister was through the roof. As I was sitting in my makeshift nursery that also happened to be my husband's office one night I thought, "What the heck just happened?"

My two great sleepers, for all intents and purposes, were still great sleepers. But, we had a situation on our hands. It got better over time, and I still think I'm the luckiest mom around. However, if I only knew then what I know now, things probably would have went a little more smoothly. Luckily for you, I know now! With many thanks to the sleep peeps at the Family Sleep Institute and to my husband who picked up so much slack to get me through my certification. I'm so so proud to say I'm officially a sleep consultant and I can't wait to work with you. Rather you are like me and just got in a hairy situation or things weren't ever quite right to begin with, I'm confident we can get you the sleep you deserve. So let's talk!
